Mary Meyer Toys: Sustainable and Safe
At SnapRetail, we get the opportunity to work with companies that don’t just create great products, but that also strive to make a positive impact on the world around them.
We think it’s important to step back and recognize these folks for their efforts. Starting today, each month we’ll be featuring one of our partners who are doing their part to make the world a better place.
Having just celebrated Earth Day on Sunday, it makes sense for us to honor a company that cares about sustainability. Mary Meyer Toys is the perfect example of a company that has been able to successfully create wonderful products all while minimizing its carbon footprint.
So, what makes Mary Meyer Toys such a stand out company? Well, where do we begin…
Let’s start with the Fuzz That Wuzz product line – a super cool idea that turns recyclables into squishable, huggable, loveable toys. Made from 100% recycled plastic PET bottles, each one of the Fuzz That Wuzz toys saves more than 10 bottles from being dumped into a landfill. These toys are cute and cuddly, and they help save our environment. It doesn’t get any better than that!
Or maybe it does… and, better yet, it involves cows.
Starting in 2009, Mary Meyer Toys began receiving 100% of its energy from Cow Power. Cow Power? Yep, that’s right. Cow Power, a renewable energy source, is produced from cow manure. Not only is this good for the environment, but it’s supporting local Vermont dairy farms. The waste from one cow can produce enough energy to power two 100-watt light bulbs for 24 hours. Learn about all of the other benefits of Cow Power from Mrs. Cow.
When Mary Meyer Toys isn’t looking out for the environment, it’s looking out for the safety of children.
While other companies try to cut corners, Mary Meyer Toys takes a five-step approach to safety. It starts with the design, making sure each toy exceeds the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) standards. Toys are tested to meet and exceed US standards, and if they don’t they are dropped from production. Other safety measures include sending toys through metal detectors, sonic-welding the plastic eyes into place, vigorous inspection and compliance certification.
Lastly, we love Mary Meyer because your success is as important to its company as it is to us. Just recently, the Mary Meyer TrafficBuilder account was stocked full of all of the great product images and templates you need to put together professional looking email and social media campaigns.
Stay tuned next month to see which of our vendors will be the featured vendor of the month. Do you have a favorite vendor? Let us know who and why!
