Facebook Questions Answered!
For those of you who attended the Facebook webinar on May 19th, here are the answers to the questions we didn’t get the chance to discuss. Please let us know if you have any questions!
Craig asked: How do you get the hyper-link, is it automatic? (Tagging)
- Answer: To tag, you must already Like the page or be a Friend of the profile. Next, in the Wall section of your page, type “@” directly followed by the page name or person’s name you are trying to tag.
Sesil C. asked: What was the blog address again?
- Answer: SnapRetail blog address is http://SnaptasticBlog.com
Ana Ricker asked: What was the app. web address before the <apps.facebook.com/wipage>
Shannon Goins asked: I have a question about staying in front of people who have liked our page. A recent change causes pages to not be displayed to users if they have not interacted with that page recently. To get around it, you have to edit your settings. How do we reconnect with all of the people we are now missing out on?
- Answer: You can do a few things: I would suggest sending an email about this new change and educating your Likes on how to make this change to their profiles. Also be sure to be posting quality content so the people who do interact with your page the most comment and/or Like, potentially pushing you into the Top News section.
India asked: How can traffic builder work with an online business – when you reserve is there a way that it can go directly into a ‘buy’ instead of a reserve.
- Answer: Currently, no. Our goal is to get people into stores to pick up, however that would not be the goal for an ecommerce platform. We are working on having the Buy button and it is currently scheduled for end of this year.
Jim Hewitt asked: How do I use the question feature?
- Answer: Questions is a feature available on all pages (and profiles) which allows you to get feedback from fans. Simply click on the Questions section located directly above the Wall form field. Then type your question and click “Add Poll Options” to add in answers to your question. Fans can then choose their answers to the question and responses will stay on your page, just like a status.
Kelly Bock asked: Where on the FB page does it mention tabs?
- Answer: Tabs are built using an Application. The Apps section can be found by clicking “Edit Page” in the top right corner of your business page, and then click Apps within the left navigation. You can learn more about applications here, too: http://www.facebook.com/help/?page=25
Denise asked: Can you give the website again for free 30 minutes consulting?
- Answer: Free 30 minute social media consultation is only available to webinar attendees and is limited. Call customer care for details, 877-459-7627.
India asked: Is there a limit on email addresses in traffic builder?
- Answer: At the Bronze level of TrafficBuilder you can have up to 1,000 email addresses with unlimited sends. At the Silver level you can have up to 10,000 email addresses with unlimited email sends. If you have more than 10,000 customer care will work with you for special pricing.
Carissa Chadwick asked: Our store is going to be holding a contest for customers to submit pictures of their various vacations where they’ve taken a picture with our store’s gift bag with our logo. We want to incorporate the submissions on facebook as well. We’re going to let people vote for their favorite. Is there an app you suggest for this? Because it’s a contest, I don’t think we can just make an album and promote that way.
- Answer: What a great contest idea! To run a contest on Facebook you must use a 3rd Party Certified Application. The most user friendly and cost efficient app is http://wildfireapp.com . A few others to look into are:
- WildFire – starts at $5 + $1/day
- Easypromos – Free to pages with less than 5,000 Likes
- NorthSocial – starts at $20/month includes unlimited app access
Megan asked: Why does it look like I have 3 facebook pages. One is completely done. Another has a blank briefcase and the other a raindrop looking symbol. Where did these extra icons come from? What do I need to fill out on these? Don’t want to get in trouble for 2 sites? I understand there are rules not to do certain types of contests and such to get “friends”.
- Answer: The briefcase page is what’s called a “Corporate Page” which is typically a place listed within people’s personal profiles as to where they work. At the current moment, these cannot be deleted or merged. The raindrop icon page is your Places page. You can merge your Places page with your business page. For more info on if you should do this and how to do it, refer to these videos we created:
Megan asked: How much do you need to fill out for places pages. Looks like it is total duplicate info as real facebook page?
- Answer: Refer to this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0NRnbp_5Zcs&feature=channel_video_title
Linda LeGroulx asked: If “likes” are missing out on our posts because of the FB setting, they also won’t see our message bringing the setting change to their attention. Is there a way around it?
- Answer: You can do a few things: I would suggest sending an email about this new change and educating your Likes on how to make this change to their profiles. Also be sure to be posting quality content so the people who do interact with your page the most comment and/or Like, potentially pushing you into the Top News section.
