Memorial Day is such an awesome holiday. It’s the first holiday that most companies celebrate since Christmas and the long weekend is long overdue. The weather is usually nice so pools, grills, and family and friends join together to celebrate. Most of all, we take time to recognize the men and women in the armed services who have given their lives up for the freedom of our country.
Many retailers have a sale or a few to capitalize on the good moods of their shoppers. But what else can you do to set your store apart from the rest? We have a few ideas for you:
- Serve some simple, patriotic food. Whether you go “All-American” style with hot dogs or play off the red-white-and-blue colors of say, fruit-topped brownies, we all know that customers love a little snack to go with their shopping.
- Partner up with a local charity or a larger organization that works with families of armed services members. Whether you take money at the register for the organization, allow shoppers to write Thank You cards and donate them, or run a social media drive, there are so many ways to make giving back a focus on Memorial Day (and beyond!).
- Hold a Red, White & Blue sale. You can make it that any products those colors is on sale (that could be a lot!) or you could put those colored stickers on the tags, or just dedicate a section of the store or a rack to get the sale items all together. Adding the color to the mix makes it a little more fun!
If you decide to hold any of the above events or promotions, or have irregular hours, make sure you tell your customers. In addition to regular signs in your store or window, look at our email templates:
